Madhurima Duttagupta, a journalist and a published author, announced the release of her book, ‘Goddess & Whore’, in October 2013. She is also a commissioned writer for the much-reputed publishing house, McGraw-Hill Books, and also contributes articles for the reputed international literary journal, The Missing Slate. Her book ‘Goddess & Whore’ was introduced to the delegates at the 50th RELC conference on ‘Transcending Boundaries in Language Learning’ in Singapore, in March 2015.

Madhurima started her career as a journalist with The Times of India and has, to her credit, over a hundred published works across several reputed Indian national dailies like The Hindu, Deccan Herald, Vijay Times and The Times of India. Her ebullient writing style and passionate interest in socially relevant issues won her space in the editorial page of the Indian national daily, Deccan Herald, at a very young age. After moving to Singapore in 2007 she has held senior editorial positions for leading lifestyle, in-flight and corporate lifestyle magazines. Among the portfolio of magazines, she has been associated with leading titles like EducationWorld Magazine, Time Out Singapore and Spiceroute (SpiceJet airlineโ€™s in-flight magazine), Human Capital, Pardesi Pulse, among others. She has worked directly under some of the most prolific Editors like Dilip Thakore, EducationWorld.

Her book ‘Goddess & Whore’, that has been listed under ‘BEST FICTION’ on BookAdda, was presented to the winners of the prestigious National Level Debate, at the IIT Kharagpur’s Spring Fest 2014. Madhurima donned the judge’s hat for the literary events there. The book is currently available in leading international bookstores like Kinokuniya as part of ‘Indian Literature’. The book is also available on Flipkart, Bookadda, Amazon and Kindle App (eBook). It has been featured in a leading lifestyle magazine – India Se – in SE Asia.

Born in Kolkata and raised in a culturally diverse background, this journalist took to writing at the age of seven. She is a rank-holder in Economics (Honours) with Sociology and Statistics, and holds a Distinction in Journalism in Print & New Media.
